Don’t miss – direct from Cuba – Haila Mompié is one of the best soneras of her generation, widely considered to have one of the most powerful voices in Latin Music.
She makes a rare UK performance at the Jazz Café on 25 June, with her female dominant band.
Haila started out with the group Septeto Tradition, later with Bamboleo and as a solo artist since 2001 she has shared the stage with renowned national and international singers such as Cheo Feliciano, Oscar de León, Celia Cruz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chucho Valdés, Issac Delgado, David Calzado and Adalberto Álvarez. She was nominated for the Latin Grammy with her album La Rumba Soy Yo.
The evening begins with a free dance class at 7:30pm with Yanet Fuentes, star of BBC’s You Think You Can Dance, and dancer for Rihanna and Shakira and a set from London’s best Cuban music selector, DJ Javier.
