António Zambujo is the biggest star in Portugal’s contemporary music firmament. A singer with a singular ability to captivate an audience, he has carved out a distinct musical path between fado and the traditional music of Alentejo.

The rhythmic influence of Brazilian popular music has also played a key role in his work. This sound comes to full fruition in his latest album, a tribute to the songs of Chico Buarque, one of Brazil’s greatest singer-songwriters. The album, Até Pensei Que Fosse Minha (I Even Thought She Was Mine), was recorded in Brazil under Chico’s guiding hand.

Zambujo has toured extensively in Europe and South America, including numerous sold-out concerts in Paris and Rio de Janeiro. Having premiered this new show in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre in Brazil, he will be bringing the Chico Buarque songbook to London for the first time, following his sold-out London headline debut at Union Chapel last autumn. The concert will also include favourites from Zambujo’s earlier albums.

Support comes from Juanita Euka singing a soulful acoustic set drawing on her Congolese Argentine heritage, with Greg Sanders on guitar and Lya Reiss Guerrero on percussion.
