Bebel Gilberto
+ Nina Miranda
Tickets available on the door from 7pm
With her rich, evocative and smoky voice and gentle blend of bossa nova and electronica, Bebel Gilberto has enchanted fans and critics worldwide. The Brazilian singer is set to make a welcome return to London.
Bebel presents a brand-new show interpreting the songs of her father, João Gilberto, who passed away in 2019 after a 70-year career in music, and is widely regarded as the ‘father of Bossa Nova’.
It was following the release of 2000’s Tanto Tempo, which was nominated for two Latin Grammys and sold over a million copies, that she was launched into the mainstream and became widely regarded as one of the preeminent Brazilian vocalists of modern times.
Bebel has gone on to perform at prestigious concert halls, arenas and festivals around the globe and her music has been featured on numerous film soundtracks and TV shows including Eat Pray Love, Rio, Sex And The City and Six Feet Under.
Bebel began singing with João Gilberto as a small child and the songs she sings tonight have been with her all her life. Bebel says – “Since my first album I’ve never really covered any of my Dad’s music. Now it’s time to present to the public the songs from João Gilberto that have influenced me since I was born and even before”.
The album João was released in August to universal acclaim:
“João is a triumphant and deeply touching tribute to her father’s memory and musical legacy” – Songlines 5/5
“The album is imbued with an understated beauty and mellow vibe,” MOJO ★★★★
“Gilberto’s renditions are both beautifully spare and remarkably deft.” Uncut

Nina Miranda plays as support artist on the show.
For the first time in over a decade Nina performs with her most fertile collaborator, Chris Franck and, for the first time onstage, with their eldest son Johan.
Nina and Chris were in the bands Smoke City , Da Lata, Shrift, and finally ZEEP and wrote August Day Song with Bebel for the album Tanto Tempo.
“The pair’s instinct for a lovely melody and Miranda’s airy vocals deliver swooning moments.” The Observer
