London Community Gospel Choir – Gospel Meets Latin
Featuring Omar Puente and his band + Luzmira Zerpa
Tonight in a special La Linea event the Choir perform with a big band, led by Cuban virtuoso violinist Omar Puente, to inject some Havana heat into their tunes and to bring their vocal power to some Cuban repertoire.
Energetic, professional, inspiring and spirit filled, whatever word you choose to describe London Community Gospel Choir there ‘ain’t no stopping them now’.
From the Choir’s humble beginnings in 1982 as Britain’s first concert gospel choir to performing at Wembley for the FA Cup final, The London Community Gospel Choir have grown to be world-wide phenomenon.
In 2012 The London Community Gospel Choir went to Barcelona to team up with that city’s Latin Big Band, and musical director/arranger Ramon Escalé, for a dynamic makeover of some of their repertoire into a brassy, Latin format. The power and technique of the choir linked with the syncopation of salsa to create an uplifting live show.
Renowned for their funky gospel flair, swing-beat, RnB traditional and soulful arrangements, invigorating choreography and vocal gymnastics, this dynamic group have performed at Live 8, Glastonbury and on the soundtrack for the Disney Smash the Lion King.
Support is Venezuelan songstress Luzmira Zerpa singing songs from her homeland.
