Led by director / arranger Daniela Rosselson De Armas – who studied Spiritual Song in Matanzas, Cuba – The London Lucumi Choir sing songs from the living tradition of Santeria (also known as Lucumi) brought to Cuba from West Africa. Tonight the group  celebrate their  birthday and launch their new CD.

Gerardo y su Rumba Ache share the stage with the choir.  Gerardo’s musicians also feature on the  new album and  include  Javier Campos Martinez (Omar Sosa), Randy Lester (Sur Caribe), Hammadi Rencurrel (Chucho Valdes), Raudelis Quiala Cisneros (Catumba, Conjunto Folklorico de Oriente), Jim Le Mesurier (La Clave) and Chris Manis (Swing Out Sister) and band leader ex -Yoruba Andabo vocalist, Gerardo.

Los Muñequitos de Matanzas is one of Cuba’s most emblematic music and dance ensembles. This film explores the transmission of knowledge and skills between generations within two of its families, the Ramos and the Pérez, providing a unique look at the preservation and renovation of cultural traditions in Cuba today.
